For kids who have asthma, allergens can trigger asthma symptoms. Allergic reactions can also lead to sinusitis. You and your healthcare provider can diagnose allergies without specific test based on your symptoms, when and how long you’ve seen them in your kids, and what seems to trigger their symptoms. Your healthcare provider can use skin tests to determine what allergens are causing your kids symptoms. In these tests, diluted extracts from different allergens are injected under the skin. If your kids have allergic reactions, a small, raised, reddened area appears on the skin where they had injections.
