Prevent your child from getting Streptococcus pneumoniae
Streptococcus pnemoniae is the bacteria that cause IPD or Invasive Pneumococcal Disease. This silent enemy lives in the nose and throat and is carried around by children without any sign of sickness. In fact 20-40% of them are perfectly healthy children. It is airborne and can spread by direct exposure to those who carry the bacteria. Simple coughing and sneezing are sure ways of contacting it.
Therefore it puts children with immature and weak immune systems at great risk. Those suffering from chronic diseases such as sickle cell disease, HIV and chronic heart and lung disease are likely to be easily infected. Frequent exposure to other children, such as day care centers, makes your child highly susceptible to IPD.
IPD is a serious illness and is life-threatening. Mercifully, you can protect your child from the worst because an IPD vaccine is now available. For effective protection against the killer illness, let your baby have it at an early age.
