Personal Health Practices

Improving your diet and exercise habits should be the first steps in your antiaging plan. But these guidelines are also important.
- If you use tobacco, stop. Stopping offers immediate and long term health rewards. After a few years, an ex-smoker’s risk of heart disease is the same as that of a person who has never smoked.
- Avoid drinking alcohol. Chronic use of alcohol can be an age accelerator.
- Protect your skin from the sun. Too much sun ages skin and raises your risk of skin cancer.
- Talk to your doctor. Find out which screening tests you should have and how often. Your doctor can also help identify your risk factors for various medical problems.
