Important information you need to know about your breast

{ Posted on Apr 25 2007 by hans }

The breast is a collection of glands and fatty tissue between the skin and the chest wall. The fatty tissue determines the size and the shape of the breast. When you have a baby, the glands produce milk that travels through tubes called ducts to reach the nipples. When lactating, these glands and ducts grow bigger.

Breast tissue contains blood vessels and lymph vessels. Lymph is a clear, liquid waste product that drains out of the breast into small pea-sized pieces of tissue called lymph nodes. These lymph nodes are located in the armpit and function to filter and clean lymph.
