Health fitness workout with your kids

- Set a good example. Thirty minutes of exercise, even if it’s 10 minutes of walking up steps, 10 minutes laying vigorously outside with your kids and 10 minutes of housework, will confer the good health idea.
- Start gradually. Walk with your family for 30 minutes at least three to four times a week. Choose different, fun routes and destinations.
- Make sure your kids play hard each day. Let them play tag or visit a playground. If you are concerned about safety when your child is at the playground, go with your child to the playground.
- Set time limits of 30 minutes a day for sedentary activities such as watching TV, using the computer, and playing video games.
- Insist that your schools increase physical activity opportunities for all children, not just elite athletes.
- Expose your child to a variety of family, solo and team activities: walking, hiking, running through exercise courses, dancing, biking, swimming, tennis or roller skating.
- Enroll your kids in organized sports programs like soccer and basketball, or in the activities of local youth groups.
