Nutrients needed to treat Alzheimer’s disease and senility

Gingko Biloba. This plant plays an important role in stimulating circulation in the brain which is responsible for transporting oxygen and other nutrients to the neurons. A great number of studies done by French and German researchers demonstrate the efficiency of this plant in the treatment of Alzheimer’s and senility.

One of the studies was carried out by Weitbrecht, W.V. and Jansen (“Double-blind and Comparative [Gingko Biloba vs. Placebo] Therapeutic Study in Geriatric Patients with Primary Degenerative Dementia”). Dr. Weitbrecht conducted a study with 40 patients between 60 and 80 years of age with degenerative dementia. Twenty of them were given 120 mg. /day of gingko-biloba extract during a three month period, while the other twenty were given a placebo (substance with no therapeutic effect). The group taking Gingko showed a marked improvement in their psychometric tests and concentration in comparison to the control group which received no Gingko Biloba.

Acetylcholine. This substance is an important neurotransmitter for communication between neurons. The brain forms it from acetyl and choline. Among other products, bee pollen is rich in these substances.

Antioxidants are another recommended component for protecting the brain from damage by oxidation due to free radicals.

The B Complex is indispensable for the proper function of neurons, mainly Vitamin B12 since it intervenes in the formation of neurotransmitters and the protective layer of the nerves, myelin. These vitamins are found in Royal Jelly.

Other important substances are Zinc, selenium, Vitamin C

Alcohol, cigarettes, etc., should be avoided.
